Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Yuva Bharat will combat terrorism. Speaking to National Cadet Corps cadets at Cariappa ground in New Delhi, he said, the present government freed Kashmir from terrorism. He said, the problem of Kashmir was persisting since Independence but nothing was done to solve it.


"देश आगे बढ़ रहा है और इसलिए वह  सर्जिकल स्ट्राइक करता है। एयर स्ट्राइक करता है। और आतंक के सरपरस्तों  को उनके घर में जाकर सबक सिखाता है। इसका परिणाम क्या हुआ है आप भी देख रहे हैं। आज सिर्फ जम्मू कश्मीर में ही नहीं बल्कि देश के अन्य हिस्सों में भी शांति कायम होती चली जा रही है अलगाववाद आतंकवाद को सीमित करने की दिशा में हम तेजी से आगे बढ़ रहे हैं।


The Prime Minister said, Kashmir is country's jewel and freeing it from problems was a responsibility and NDA Government delivered it.


Prime Minister Modi urged youths to avoid delay in bringing change. He said, India is a nation of young people. He said, everyone must work together to take nation to new heights keeping in mind past challenges and future goals. 


"उसने तय किया है कि बस अब टाला नहीं जाएगा। अब टकराया जाएगा। निपटा जाएगा। यही है युवा सोच यही है युवा मन। यही है युवा भारत। अतीत की चुनौतियां, वर्तमान की जरूरतों और भविष्य की आकांक्षाओं को ध्यान में रखते हुए हमें एक साथ काम करना होगा।"


Prime Minister also highlighted how the situation in North Eastern states have improved a lot.

Saying Citizenship Amendment Act is not against Muslims, Prime Minister said, minorities are under attack in Pakistan. He said, innocent Hindu girls have been abducted and converted. He said, Pakistan is fighting a proxy war but Indian Army can defeat them in 10 days. Prime Minister said, the present government at Centre opened Kartarpur Corridor after 70 years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Government is continuously working and taking progressive measures to double the farmers' income by 2022. Addressing 3rd Global Potato Conclave at Gandhinagar, Gujarat today through video conferencing, Prime Minister said, the combination of efforts of farmers and government's policy has resulted in bringing India among the top three countries in the world in the production of many cereals and other food items.


"साल 2022 तक किसानों की आय दोगुनी करने के लक्ष्‍य को लेकर के, हम लगातार आगे बढ़ते गये हैं और बहुत कुछ अचीव करते गये हैं। महत्‍वपूर्ण कदम उठाये जा रहे हैं। किसानों के प्रयास और सरकार की पॉलिसी के कॉम्बिनेशन का ही परिणाम है कि अनेक अनाजों और दूसरे खाने के सामान के उत्‍पादन में भारत दुनिया के टॉप तीन देशों में हैं, टॉप थ्री कन्‍ट्री में हैं।"


He said, the Centre has also taken several steps to promote the food processing sector.


"खेती को लाभकारी बनाने के लिए सरकार का फोकस खेत से लेकर फूड प्रोसेसिंग और डिस्ट्रिब्‍यूशन सेंटर तक, एक आधुनिक और व्‍यापक नेटवर्क खड़ा करने का है। आने वाले पांच वर्षों में सिर्फ सिंचाई और खेती से जुड़े दूसरे इन्‍फ्रास्‍ट्रक्‍चर पर हजारों-करोड़ रूपये खर्च किये जाने हैं। इतना ही नहीं, फूड प्रोसेसिंग से जुड़े सेक्‍टर को प्रमोट करने के लिए, केंद्र सरकार ने भी अनेक कदम उठाये हैं।"

Prime Minister said, at the beginning of this month, a new record was created by transferring twelve thousand crore rupees to the bank accounts of six crore farmers simultaneously.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the pathway to regional peace lies in understanding each other's sensitivities and following principles of non-interference. Addressing 12th South Asia Conference in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, with exception of one country, Pakistan, the region has adhered to non-interference policy. He said, India is engaged in conversations with its neighbours except one country in order to develop a joint approach for regional peace and security.


The Minister said, full potentials of SAARC could not be utilized because of behaviour of a single country. The Minister said, India is playing a lead role on connectivity in the South Asian region and in the development spheres it is providing credit line to its neighbors. 

 

Talking on terrorism he said, it is essential that terrorists and their ideological and financial network are cut off and they do not receive state support. The Minister said, India fully capable of giving a firm response to the cross border terrorism.


"An India to Sri Lanka innocent lives have been lost to terrorism. On our parts, we have made it clear the talks and terror cannot go together and that Pakistan must take demonstrable steps against terror groups responsible for launching various attacks on India from its soil. We are fully capable of giving a form a response to cross border terrorism."


The theme of the conference is ‘India’s Neighbourhood First Policy: Regional Perceptions'.

In Jammu and Kashmir, one terrorist of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Aarwani area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.


Police sources told AIR News that on a credible input, a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by police and other security forces last evening. The terrorists who were hiding started firing indiscriminately. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter and one of them was killed in the ensuing encounter. The slain terrorist has been identified as Shahid Ahmad of Kulgam. An Army soldier also sustained injuries during the encounter.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today gave away Best Tableaux awards for Republic Day Parade, 2020 in New Delhi. Assam's tableau which portrayed the unique craftsmanship and culture of the state has been chosen as the best tableau, followed by Odisha and Uttar Pradesh who were tied for the second position. Odisha's tableau depicted Lord Lingaraja's Rukuna Rath Yatra whereas the tableau of Uttar Pradesh showcased the state's cultural and religious heritage.

The tableaux of National Disaster Relief Force and Jal Shakti Mission were chosen as the best among the Ministries and Departments.


Central Public Works Department got the Special Prize for their tableau which based on the theme - Kashmir Se Kanyakumari.

"Central Zonal Council comprises of four states. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adtiyanath, CM of Madhya Pradesh Kamalnath, CM of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat and CM of host state Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel are attending the 22nd meeting of Central Zonal Council. Chief Secretaries of member states and senior officers of centre and states are also present on the occasion. During the meeting, issues related to security, law and order, infrastructure related matters like roads, transport, water, industries and power along with various issues between centre and member states and inter-state disputes are being discussed. The Assam Government has appealed United Liberation Front of Assam, Chief, Paresh Baruah to come forward for the peace process. Talking to news persons in Guwahati today, Assam Finance Minister and Convenor of North-East Democratic Alliance Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the Centre and the State Government would reciprocate if he comes for dialogue. He also appealed militant group of Manipur to come for talks.


On the other hand, the Minister said that not a single non- Bodo village would be included in the proposed Satellite Council that to be formed outside the Bodoland Territorial Council area.

Supreme Court today said that its nine-judge Constitution bench would wrap up proceedings within 10 days in the matter relating to discrimination against women in various religions and at religious places including Kerala's Sabarimala Temple.


A bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde said that questions to be dealt with would be purely legal in nature.


The observations came when Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the case before the bench. He said that in pursuance of the court's earlier direction a meeting of lawyers took place, but it could not finalize the common legal questions for consideration of the nine-judge bench.

The Supreme Court today allowed the Centre to introduce the African cheetah to a suitable habitat in India. The apex Court's decision followed a petition filed by National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) seeking permission for the introduction of the African cheetah from Namibia as rare Indian cheetah is almost extinct in the country.


The Court also set up a three-member committee, comprising former Director Wildlife of India Ranjit Singh, Director General of Wildlife of India Dhananjay Mohan and Deputy Inspector General, Wildlife, Ministry of Environment and Forests to guide the NTCA in taking a decision on the issue.

The Government has a target to install 175 Giga Watt renewable energy by 2022 to build a healthy planet with less carbon intensive economy. The Finance Ministry said, through Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surkasha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan, PM-KUSUM scheme, government empowers the farmers to be the producer of energy. "The first component of the PM-KUSUM scheme is installation of 10 thousand Mega Watt of Decentralized Ground Mounted Grid Connected Renewable Power Plants by farmers of 500 Kilo Watt to 2 Mega Watt capacity. Second, installation of 17.50 lakh stand alone Solar Powered Agriculture Pumps and third, solarization of 10 Lakh Grid-connected Solar Powered Agriculture Pumps. Solar Pumps can result in saving of 1.2 billion liters of diesel per annum. The Scheme has substantial environmental impact in terms of savings of CO2 emissions and all three components of the Scheme combined together are likely to result in saving of about 27 million tonnes of CO2 emission per annum. The United States Supreme Court has allowed the Trump Administration to proceed with a rule that aims to deny permanent residency and citizenship to immigrants who claim welfare benefits.

The top chamber's five conservative justices yesterday outvoted their four progressive colleagues to support a request by President Donald Trump to lift a New York court injunction that had blocked the rule's application. In a statement, the White House lauded the ruling, calling it a massive win for American taxpayers, American workers and the American Constitution.

Sensex and Nifty trade almost flat while European markets opened higher and most Asian markets were trading lower today. Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange gained 14 points to trade at 41,170. Nifty at National Stock Exchange fell by two points to trade at 12,117. Rupee at Forex market appreciated by 15 paise to 71 rupees and 28 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals.

In Under-19 cricket World Cup, India were 33 for no loss in eight overs against Australia in the Super League Quarter-Final at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, South Africa,  when the last reports came in. Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to field.


In the group stage, India topped Group 'A' with six points while Australia finished second in Group 'B' with four points.  The second Super League Quarter-Final will be played tomorrow between Group 'B' topper West Indies, and New Zealand which finished second in Group A.
