Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with the people in the country and abroad in his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme on All India Radio at 11 AM today. It will be the 62nd episode of the monthly radio programme.

It will be broadcast on the entire network of AIR and Doordarshan and also on AIR News website <<<www.newsonair.com>>> and newsonair Mobile App. It will also be streamed live on the YouTube channels of AIR, DD News, PMO and Information and Broadcasting Ministry. AIR will broadcast the programme in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast. The regional language versions will also be repeated at 8 in the evening.


Now news on Visit of President Trump:

The largest cricket stadium in the world, Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad  is going to host the Namaste Trump event on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump will share a stage in front of more than one lakh people.

The Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad has a capacity of 1 lakh 10 thousand people. The old Motera cricket stadium hosted 12 Test matches and 24 ODIs between 1983 and 2014. It had a life span of 25 years and the newly constructed stadium will be the world largest cricket stadium after inauguration. Vice President of the Gujarat Cricket Association Parimal Nathwani has expressed pride that the stadium will host President Trump.

Agra is fully geared to welcome US President Donald Trump at Taj Mahal. Streets have been spruced up, walls beautified with thematic paintings and the lawns of Taj Mahal bedecked with shimmering flowers to present the best face of Agra.

The US President is slated to arrive in Agra tomorrow evening after attending the mega 'Namaste Trump' event at Ahmedabad. In Agra, the Trump family will spend about an hour at the Taj Mahal before sunset.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unlikely to accompany US President and his family members during their visit to the Taj Mahal. Official sources said, no official engagements or presence of senior dignitaries from the Indian side is envisaged there.

US President Donald Trump's visit to India is expected to focus on several key areas, including economic and energy ties. Whether in countering terrorism or in ensuring a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific, India and the US have unprecedented convergence of interests. It is a strategic partnership based on shared values and geared towards the 21st century. Our correspondent reports that the US is India’s largest trading partner in goods and services combined. 

"Relationship with the US has evolved to one of India's most consequential relationships today. The overall bilateral trade increased by over 10 per cent per annum over the past two years to reach 142 billion dollars in 2018. Bilateral trade is expected to cross 150 billion dollars for the first time this year. Two way merchandise trade stood at around 87 billion dollars. Of this, India’s goods exports to the US were valued at 54 billion dollars. The US has emerged as a key partner for India in the field of energy. It is now also India's 6th largest source of crude oil imports, with hydrocarbon imports rising to 7 billion dollars in the last two years. Suparna Saikia, AIR News, Delhi."


The Non-Resident Indian Community in the United States of America are excited about the visit of US President Donald Trump to India.

Speaking to AIR News, NRI Digamber Eslampure said, the visit will strengthen India-US relations.

Another NRI Arun Sharma said,  the visit is very significant and it will boost economic and strategic partnership between the two greatest democracies.


Now moving on to our series "Har Ek Kaam, Desh Ke Naam". In this series, we take a look at the programmes and policies of the government aimed at reaching out to the last mile of development and welfare of all.

Today, we take a look at the the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

The PM-KISAN scheme was launched on 24th February last year, is to provide income support to all landholding farmers' families across the country and enable them to meet expenses related to agriculture as well as domestic needs. Addressing the inaugural  function of the scheme  at Gorakhpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that  six thousand rupees per year is transferred in installments directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.

"किसान पूरी तरह से सशक्‍स और सक्ष्‍म बने। इस लक्ष्‍य के साथ हम निकले हैं। हमारी सरकार बहुत इमानदारी से कोशिश कर रही है कि देश के किसानों को हर वो साधन संसाधन दिए जाए जिससे वो वर्ष 2022 तक अपनी आय दोगुनी कर सके।"

Centre has released 50,850 crore rupees to farmers in the scheme so far. As on 20th of this month, 8.46 crores farmer families have been given the benefits.

The scheme initially provided income support to all small and marginal farmers' families across the country, holding cultivable land up to  two hectares. However, its  ambit was later expanded to cover all farmer families in the country irrespective of the size of their land holdings. Affluent farmers have been excluded from the scheme such as income tax payers in last assessment year.


Atal Innovation Mission, the flagship initiative of NITI Aayog, has contributed immensely to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had on 24th February 2016 given its approval for establishment of Atal Innovation Mission. The Mission is establishing Atal Tinkering Laboratories in schools across India to foster curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds.

"The Atal Tinkering Labs are dedicated innovation workspaces of 1200-1500 square feet where kits on latest technologies like 3D Printers and Robotics are installed using a grant of 20 lakh rupees from the government. Students from Class 6 to Class 12 can tinker with these technologies and learn to create innovative solutions using these technologies. Atal Innovation Mission is setting up world-class Atal Incubators at the university, NGO, SME and Corporate industry levels that would trigger and enable successful growth of sustainable startups. The Mission is providing a grant of upto 10 crore rupees to successful applicants for setting up greenfield incubators or scaling up existing ones. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has said that India remained protected from novel Coronavirus due to its robust health surveillance system. He also hailed qualified health professionals for resisting the Ebola, Nipah virus and Swineflu in the past. Dr Harshvarshan was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Academic and Administrative Building of the International Institute for Population Sciences in Mumbai. He said, India is now in a position to achieve the World Health Organisation's 'Health for All' goal and to form a healthcare model that can be emulated by other countries. Dr Harshvardhan said, the doctor-to-population ratio will also be as per WHO standards.

Government has advised citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Singapore in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. It also said that screening at airports is now being planned for flight passengers coming to India from Kathmandu, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia from tomorrow. The decision was taken during a review meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary to take a stock of the status, actions taken and preparedness of states and UTs regarding management of novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Indian flight carrying medical supplies and relief material for Wuhan is still awaiting clearance from China. India submitted its request well in advance for a scheduled flight on 20th February. The flight carrying relief supplies to China will also bring back the remaining Indian nationals from Wuhan.


Now moving on to our segment of Ek Bharat Shretha Bharat

Andaman and Nicobar islands has been paired with Lakshadweep under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Campaign. The local administration has taken a lot of initiative with the partner state Lakshadweep for the promotion of Art & Culture and Sports. A Report:

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Andaman Nicobar Islands on 30th December, 2018 had announced a scheme named Lakshadweep-Andaman Nicobar Islands development scheme at Port Blair. Since than the Andaman Nicobar Administration has taken several steps to create awareness among the beneficiaries. The Director of Industries Mr. Ajit Anand give more information on the progress of the scheme."

There are about 16 to 20 inquiries. The registration process is on since the undersea cable is coming and lot of tourism infrastructure products are under pipeline and two  bridges to connect the middle and north Andaman are under progress. There are lot of scopes for industrial development and that is why the scheme which was earlier announced by the government is up to 31st march 2020 now has been extended up to 31st march 2021 so that more project can be covered under the scheme. On day 5 of the Asian Wrestling Championship in New Delhi, India earned one gold and three silver medals yesterday. In men’s freestyle 57 kg category, Ravi Dahiya won the gold medal defeating Tajikistan’s Hikmatullo Vohidov by technical superiority in the final match at KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium.


In FIH Pro League, Indian men bounced back in style to beat title holders Australia 3-1 via a shoot-out in the second match of the two-leg hockey match at Bhubaneswar yesterday. Both the teams were locked 2-2 at the end of regulation time . India converted two penalty corners in goals. By virtue of this win, India earned three points from the game while Australia pocketed one.


India were 47 for the loss of 1 wickets against New Zealand in their second inning on the third day of the opening Test in Wellington. When reports last came in.

  • The euphoria of the claim of gold reserves worth Rs 12 trillion could not last even 24 hours with the Geological Survey of India refuting the claim."3000-tonne gold reserves claim gets reality check", says Business Standard.

  • And finally, "Thousands of Japanese (are) making a smooth transition from Zen to Jain", reports The Times of India. The popularity of Jainism is spreading in Osaka and Tokyo, adds the paper.
