India andMyanmar have agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations. Bothsides today signed 10 agreements in various fields including infrastructure,energy, communication and health. The agreements were exchanged following talksbetween Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President U Win Myint in NewDelhi. Both leaders discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.


A joint statement released this evening said, the visit reinforced thetradition of high level interactions, symbolizing the strong friendly relationsexisting between the two neighbours. More from Our correspondent -

"Both sidesagreed to cooperate in countering terrorist groups and their actions. PrimeMinister Narendra Modi expressed full support for Myanmar’s peace processbetween Government, Military and Ethnic Armed Groups. Co-operation in defenceand security along with matter of enhanced bilateral trade and economicengagements also discussed. India reiterated its support for peace , stabilityand development in Rakhine state. Coordinated Bus Service between Imphal andMandalay is expected to begin from April this year. The Indian side reiteratedits commitment for construction of the Integrated Check Post in Tamu, Myanmar.With Anupam Mishra, Anand Chaturvedi, AIR News, Delhi."


MrU Win Myint arrivedin New Delhi yesterday on a four-day visit to India. He isaccompanied by the First Lady Daw Cho Cho. Myanmar President was accordedceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan this morning.


India todayhit out at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, OIC for its statement onDelhi violence, saying the comments are factually inaccurate and misleading.External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Raveesh Kumar urged bodies like the OIC,not to make irresponsible statements at this sensitive time.

"हमने उनका स्टेंटमेंट देखा है, जो स्टेटमेंट है वो  factuallyinaccurate है, तथ्यों पर आधारित नहीं है और मिसलीडिंग भी है और हमें लगता है कि ये उस मामले को  politicise किये जाने की कोशिश की जा रही है।"


Briefing media in New Delhi, the Spokesman said, there is an effort on theground to restore normalcy and create confidence. The OIC had condemned theviolence in Delhi.


Mr Kumar added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself publiclyappealed for peace and brotherhood. The Spokesman said that it is not the righttime to make such comments and they can create more problems.


On Novel Corona virus situation, Mr Kumar said, it is being monitored at avery high level on a regular basis. He said, 195 Indians and 41 foreignnationals from China and Japan were evacuated and brought to India in twospecial flights this morning.


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India willbe a major exporter of defence equipment in the days to come. Addressing theHAL employees in Bengaluru today as part of state festival, he said that thedefence exports that presently stand at 17,000 crore rupees, will be enhancedto 35,000 crore rupees by 2024 through various government interventions.


Calling HAL as the backbone of aviation sector in India,the Minister asked the aeronautical manufacturing company to play a key role totake up Make in India programme.


BJP todayquestioned Opposition in what it termed as selective silence of Congress andAam Aadmi Party over the violent clashes in Delhi. Addressing media in NewDelhi today Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that rather than consolidatedefforts towards peace both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are trying topoliticise the violence.


The Ministerquestioned the silence of both the parties over the issue of death of policepersonnel and attack on police and media persons. He criticised Delhi ChiefMinister Arvind Kejriwal over identification of victims in the clash byreligion.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the BundelkhandExpressway at Chitrakoot on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh Government isconstructing the 216 kilo meter long Expressway which will pass through thedistricts of Chitrakoot, Banda, Hamirpur and Jalaun Oraiyah and Etawah. It willlink the Bundelkhand area to the national capital Delhi through Agra-Lucknowexpressway and Yamuna expressway as well as play a vital role in thedevelopment of Bundelkhand region. Mr Modi will also launch 10 thousand FarmerProducer Organizations, FPOs all over the country at Chitrakoot.


The Prime Minister will also distribute Assistive Aids and Devices toSenior Citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana and Divyangjans under thescheme of Assistance to Disabled Persons for aids and appliances (ADIP) at amega camp at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. In the mega camp, over 56thousand Assistive Aid and Devices of different types will be distributed freeof cost to over 26 thousand beneficiaries. The cost of the aids and devices isover 19 crore rupees.


Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways NitinGadkari has said that fundamentalist terrorism is the biggest problem in theworld and not only India, but the whole world has the victim of the menace.Addressing the closing ceremony of the two-daySavarkar Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi today, Mr Gadkari said, progressivedemocratic nations are uniting to fight against terrorism.

"आज दुनिया दो भागों में बंटी हुई है एक fundamentalist,terrorist और दूसरी तरफ सहिष्णु, सरसता, सर्वसामाजिकता, इसका आधार लेकर डेमोक्रेटिक वेल्युज़ के साथ हम सब मिलकर रहेंगे कहने वाला एक विचार पवार है। और इसलिए आज की स्थिति में हमें सर्वसमावेशकप्रगतिशील होते हुए और सही अर्थों में सर्वधर्म समभाव सब धर्मों का सम्मान करते हुए सबको साथ लेकर आगे जाना है।"


Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said thatreach of banking will be increased in Assam with special emphasis on the 17districts in order to cater to the Tea Garden areas. While addressing a pressconference in Guwahati today, the Minister said that she has directed the banksthat all accounts of tea garden workers should be made compatible for effectiveimplementation of Direct Benefits Transfer. "Subsequentto the presentation of Union Budget 2020-21 in the Parliament, Union FinanceMinister  Nirmala Sitharaman has been onan outreach to various major cities where she has been interacting with thestake holders and representatives from Trade and Industry. The Finance Ministersaid that far-flung areas in North East will be given greater access to creditwith adequate number of ATMs and branches. Earlier today, Ms Sitharaman alongwith Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited the three-dayfinancial inclusion outreach programme at Guwahati. The Union Minister saidthat contribution of banks will be immense in fulfilling Prime MinisterNarendra Modi's dream to develop North East. For All India Radio, this isNasbin Sarkar from Guwahati"


Delhi Police has said that the situation in the violence hit North-Easternpart of the city is under control. The death toll in the violence has gone upto 35. It said more than 100 People have been arrested in connection withviolence. Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, S N Srivastava said, thesituation is returning to normal.


Delhi Police has also transfered the North-East Delhi violence probe to theCrime Branch and formed two Special Investigation Teams, SITs for comprehensiveand effective investigation. The first of these SITs will be headed by DeputyCommissioner of Police Joy Tirkey and the other one by DCP Rajesh Deo.


The Home Ministry has said that adequate strength of security forces have beendeployed in the violence hit areas.            


The Delhi HighCourt today has asked the Centre and police to file their replies to the PILseeking lodging of FIRs against three BJP leaders for allegedly making hatespeeches within four weeks. A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice CHari Shankar allowed impleadment of the Centre in the PIL seeking lodging ofFIRs and arrests in northeast Delhi where communal violence has erupted overthe amended citizenship law. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the bench thatas the Centre is responsible for maintaining law and order in Delhi, it be madea party in the matter, which was allowed by the court. He informed the benchthat 48 FIRs have been lodged in relation to the violence and said, there be nojudicial intervention till normalcy is restored in the national capital.


The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has postponed Class X andClass XII exams scheduled for tomorrow and also on Saturday in violence-hitNorth-East Delhi. In a statement, CBSE said, examinations in the remainingparts of the national capital will be conducted as per the schedule. The CBSEsaid, the next date of exam for the affected students will be notified soon.The CBSE said, all exams in all the centres in the national capital will beheld as per the schedule from 2nd March onwards.

Nagaland has been paired with the state of Madhya Pradeshunder the Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat programme. Our correspondent file thisreport.

Under theprogramme, several activities are also scheduled to take place from next monthorganized by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Nagaland. Around 250 studentsfrom 13 states of the country will participate in this programme from 10thto14th of March. Besides, a five-day programme will also begin on 13th ofMarch. The ITBP Quarantine facility at Chhawla Camp in New Delhi is again housinganother batch of 112 people from today who were brought from Wuhan in China.The group includes 76 Indians and 36 foreign nationals including eight familiesand five children. The group of foreign nationals includes 23 from Bangladesh,six from China, two each from Myanmar and Maldives and one each fromMadagascar, South Africa and the United States.


In another display of India's capability to ensure the safety of itsnationals, a special Air India flight today brought back 119 Indian nationalscomprising 113 crew members and 6 passengers, who were on-board the novelcoronavirus hit, Diamond Princess Cruise ship docked off at Yokohama in Japan.


In Malaysia,interim leader Mahathir Mohamad said that the Lower House of the Parliamentwill pick a new Prime Minister on ensuing Monday. This decision comes after theking, Sultan Abdullah failed to establish who has majority support followingthe collapse of the ruling coalition. Mr Mahathir had met the king earliertoday. He said, the monarch couldn't find a candidate with a clear majority tolead the nation after consulting all 222 lawmakers. If the voting ends in animpasse, a snap election will be called.


India handed over the fifth tranche of humanitarianassistance consisting of sewing machines, office tents, rescue kits, etc forthe displaced persons from Rakhine province of Myanmar to Bangladesh today.High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das handed over therelief material to Bangladesh Minister for Disaster Management Enamur Rahman inCox Bazar.


In the ongoing Khelo India University Games in Odisha,Savitribai Phule Pune University was on the top place in the medal tally byclaiming three more gold medals in weightlifting and wrestling today. The PuneUniversity has 13 gold medals to surge ahead. Mahesh Datta Asawale clinchedgold medal in men’s 67 kilogram and Prajkta Ravindra Khalkar won gold medal in64 kg weightlifting.


Sanjeet of Dr B R Ambedkar University, Agra won silverwhile Aftab Alam of Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi won a bronze medal in the men’s70 kg freestyle wrestling. Likewise, Krishan of Chaudhary Ranbir SinghUniversity, Haryana won silver while Gurmanvar Singh Shera of Sant Baba BhagSingh University, Punjab won a bronze medal in men’s 92 kg freestyle wrestling.
